One thing that is still open after Dr.PulmRoch’s answer:

What would you measure differently if you were starting again?

Pushing back on raj_cambridge here. Filing an objection on the n=1 problem. Personal experience is genuine evidence about one person and very weak evidence about anybody else, and this thread keeps promoting the first into the second.

If somebody has the primary source to hand I would rather cite it than paraphrase it.

No disagreement with raj_cambridge. One condition attached. Yes, and the corollary is less popular: if the reasoning holds, it also holds where it produces an answer we do not like.

This answered a question I did not know how to ask.

From the other side of the consultation, briefly. The mechanism and the magnitude are separate questions. Agreeing that something happens says nothing about whether it happens enough to act on.
