No disagreement, though the timescale matters more than the mechanism here.

Same pattern here, and in the same order. The detail I would add is minor and it is already implied above.

Coming at carl_compliance’s question from a different direction. Relative and absolute effects need reading together. A 20% relative reduction on a high baseline risk is a large absolute benefit; the same relative figure on a low baseline risk is a small one, and press summaries almost always quote the relative number because it is bigger.

One concrete data point for the thread. For anyone reading later: the numbers in this thread are worth checking against a primary source before you act on them, including mine. Half the figures circulating in this community trace back to a secondary summary that dropped a qualifier.

Worth separating that from the trial evidence, which this thread keeps folding into the same question. They behave differently and the advice does not transfer.

One thing that is still open after carl_compliance’s answer:

How to read a result like this without either dismissing it or over-reading it, since the summaries all read like press releases?

I read this differently from stefan_berlin, on substance rather than tone. Pushing back on the anecdote-stacking. Twenty people reporting the same thing is twenty samples from the same self-selected pool, not twenty independent confirmations.

I would rather be corrected than agreed with, if it comes to it.
