Thirteen weeks at the same dose with no change on the scale, and I have gone from assuming it was the drug to assuming it was me and back several times.

The narrow version of the question is how to distinguish a genuine plateau from measurement noise and creeping intake, before changing anything.

Practical detail welcome, however dull — the duller the better.

Plateau breaking story with a stall: I stalled at 201 lbs for 6 weeks. Tried everything — calorie cycling, increased exercise, more water. Nothing worked.

What finally broke the plateau: increasing protein to 150g/day. Lost 9 lbs in the next 2 weeks. Plateaus are temporary — they always break if you stay consistent.

Agreeing with Dr.AddMedPHL, and the qualification matters more than the agreement. Genuine plateaus happen too, and the mechanism is metabolic adaptation plus a smaller body. A body 20kg lighter needs meaningfully fewer calories at rest and less to move, so the deficit that produced the first phase is arithmetically smaller now. The options are the honest ones — increase the deficit slightly, increase activity, or accept the new plateau — and escalating the dose is only one of them.

Same pattern here, and in the same order.

From the other side of the consultation, briefly. The honest answer is that the effect is real, the magnitude is contested, and the individual variation is larger than either. Those three things can all be true at once, and most arguments here are two people holding different parts of that.
