Six weeks of shedding, no bald patches, and a GP who told me to come back in three months. Trying to work out whether that was reassurance or dismissal.

What would genuinely help is knowing whether the shedding is the drug or the rate of loss, and when it stops.

Happy to be told the question itself is wrong.

Hair loss update related to hair shedding: I experienced noticeable shedding starting around month 3. My dermatologist confirmed it's telogen effluvium — a stress response to rapid weight loss, NOT the medication directly.

What's helping:

  • Biotin 5000mcg daily
  • Adequate protein (130g+/day)
  • Iron and ferritin levels checked and supplemented
  • Collagen peptides 20g daily
  • Minoxidil 5% topical (prescribed)

The shedding slowed after 2 months and my hair is now growing back. Temporary but definitely stressful.

Correct as far as it goes. The part it does not cover is what to do when the honest answer is "not enough data", which is more often than anyone likes.

This matches mine closely enough to be worth saying so out loud. Posting only so the count is not one.

From the other side of the consultation, briefly. Take it one variable at a time. Almost every unanswerable question in these threads is unanswerable because three things changed in the same fortnight, and no amount of subsequent argument can untangle them after the fact.
