one glass hits me like three used to. I got tipsy on a single glass of Pinot Noir at dinner last week

Be really careful with this. I made the mistake of drinking at my normal pre-sema pace at a work holiday party in December and got absolutely wrecked. Like embarrassingly drunk when I thought I'd had a moderate amount. It was genuinely dangerous in retrospect — I would NOT have been safe to drive if I had driven.

Take the tolerance change seriously. It's not just "feeling tipsy," your actual blood alcohol level may be higher than you'd expect.

The appetite reduction for alcohol extends to other stuff too imo. I used to stress-eat candy at my desk and that urge is completely gone. Also used to be a social media doomscroller and even that has reduced? I wonder if the "food noise" reduction is actually a broader reward-system modulation.

There's actually preliminary data on exactly that — GLP-1 agonists reducing compulsive behaviors beyond food and alcohol. Shopping, gambling, even nail-biting. It's all mediated through the same dopaminergic reward pathways. Very early research though, mostly case reports and animal studies at this point.

But yeah, "food noise" is probably better described as "reward noise" — and semaglutide seems to turn down the volume on all of it.

This is all fascinating. The reward-system modulation theory makes total sense. I've also noticed I'm less drawn to social media and I hadn't connected it until right now.

For the practical side — I'm going to be the designated driver at all social events going forward lol. Not that I mind, honestly. I'm saving a fortune on wine and beer.

Thanks for the input everyone. This forum is consistently better than anything my doctor tells me.

my bar tab went from like $200/month to basically $0. the semaglutide is paying for itself at this point 😂
