I read this differently from Dr.PeteFamMed, on substance rather than tone. This treats a plausible mechanism as a demonstrated one. Plausible is where you start looking, not where you stop.

No disagreement, though the timescale matters more than the mechanism here. Most of what looks like a difference in kind turns out to be a difference in how long somebody waited.

Old thread, but it comes up first when you search for this, so it is worth updating. Keep the original post as written when you update it, and add the correction underneath. An edited-away mistake is invisible to the next person who makes it.

Adding the clinical framing, because it changes how the question reads. Say what you would expect to see if you were wrong, before you look. It is a small discipline and it changes what you notice.
