The honest answer is that the effect is real, the magnitude is contested, and the individual variation is larger than either.

That holds where the measurement is reliable. Where it is noisy — and a lot of what gets tracked here is noisy — the same reasoning produces confident nonsense.

Worth separating that from thyroid monitoring, which this thread keeps folding into the same question. They behave differently and the advice does not transfer.

The phase 2 numbers were about 24% mean weight loss at 48 weeks on the top dose, with the curve still descending at the end of the study.

This answered a question I did not know how to ask. Sending this to two other people who asked me the same thing last week.

I do not accept the framing. The question has been narrowed to the version that has a tidy answer, and the part that was dropped is the part the OP actually asked about.

Adding the numbers, since they settle part of this. If you are comparing against somebody else’s result, check that you are comparing the same measurement taken the same way. Most of the apparent contradictions in these threads dissolve at that step.

Worth separating that from thyroid monitoring, which this thread keeps folding into the same question. They behave differently and the advice does not transfer.

Moderator note: good thread. Keeping it here rather than moving it, because the question is general enough to be useful.
