A collapsed or crumbly lyophilization cake is a textbook sign of temperature excursion during storage or transit. The lyophilization process creates a specific crystalline structure that degrades when exposed to heat or moisture. You should: 1. NOT use this product 2. Take photos of everything — the packaging, the vial, the solution 3. Document the weather/temperature on your delivery date 4. File a formal complaint with the vendor requesting a full refund AND reship 5. If they refuse, name them here so others can be warned Any reputable vendor includes cold packs for peptide shipments. This isn't optional — it's basic pharmaceutical handling.

This happened to me once with a vendor that has since been removed from the recommended list. They tried to tell me peptides "don't need cold chain shipping" which is technically half-true for lyo powder in moderate weather but completely irresponsible as a blanket policy. I did get my money back eventually but only after threatening a chargeback. Some vendors bank on people not pushing back.

Update: vendor responded within 6 hours and agreed to full reship with "upgraded packaging." They apologized and said it was a warehouse error — the insulated mailer and ice pack were supposed to be included. They also offered 15% off my next order. I appreciate the quick response but I'm still concerned this could happen again. Going to give them one more chance with the reship and if it arrives properly packed I'll continue. If not, I'm switching.

Glad they made it right. For future reference, here's what proper peptide shipping should include: - Insulated foam or thermal liner (not just a padded mailer) - Minimum one cold/gel pack, preferably two - Vial wrapped in bubble wrap or foam to prevent breakage - Temperature indicator strip (some premium vendors include these) - Shipped Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend warehouse sitting If any vendor skips ALL of these, that's a red flag regardless of their excuses.

Adding to the above — some vendors now use phase-change material (PCM) packs instead of traditional gel ice packs. These maintain a specific temperature range (usually 2-8°C) for 48-72 hours and are significantly better than regular cold packs. EmPower and a couple others use these. If you're ordering in summer months, it's worth asking your vendor what cold chain method they use before placing the order.
